A suite of revised Professional Standards for teachers was launched by GTC Scotland this week, which will replace the current four Standards in August 2013. The revised Standards require teachers to demonstrate Knowledge, skill and action in outdoor learning.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is encouraging teachers to embrace outdoor activities after discovering that more accidents take place in schools than on trips. The organisation is promoting the importance of Outdoor Learning through publication of a new guide to planning and leading educational visits.
