This course is for anyone who has a role in supporting the delivery of curricular based outdoor learning. The course is aimed at instructors, third sector and private organisations, classroom assistants, volunteers, or indeed anyone who wants to work in partnerships with schools to deliver meaningful outdoor learning experiences.   The course will help participants to gain an understanding of the Curriculum for Excellence, and the framework for delivering this to pupils, as well as providing resources and ideas to assist good partnership working.

The SAPOE training team that developed this course have over 130 years experience in outdoor learning between them. Their professional, academic skills and knowledge as practitioners, teachers, instructors and local authority managers enables them to bring a diverse range of perspectives to this course.

Principal Teacher for East Lothian Council Outdoor Learning Service. Liz is responsible for managing a team of teachers and instructors who train staff and deliver and support Outdoor Learning across East Lothian schools. Liz is also responsible for the safety management of off-site visits including adventure activities and overseas.

Outdoor Learning Manager with Fife Council's Outdoor Education Team and the current Chair on the SAPOE committee. He is responsible for Lochore Meadows Outdoor Education Centre and also leads on outdoor related training and guidance across all council services including management of off-site visits, EVC training and the Evolve system.

Curriculum Support Officer in Falkirk Council with responsibility for Outdoor Learning, Learning for Sustainability and the Policy for Off-site Visits.  She is a qualified teacher, with a post graduate qualification in Outdoor Education, and a career of over 30 years dedicated to getting more young people learning outdoors.

The Outdoor Learning Manager for the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) and a vice-chair of SAPOE. He is passionate about the benefits learning outdoors brings to education. He has been working with young people outdoors for over 30 years in the public and private sectors and is a highly qualified multi-disciplined practitioner.

Outdoor Learning Development Officer and Principal Teacher for the Learning Outdoors Support Team in East Ayrshire Council. She works alongside teachers and practitioners to utilise the endless resource which is the outdoors, to engage our children and young people in curriculum learning. Natalie is Secretary for SAPOE and a member of the National Network for Outdoor Learning Steering Group.

The Principal Teacher Inclusion & Equity (Outdoor Learning) with Midlothian Council Inclusion and Wellbeing Service. Bill is an ardent supporter of outdoor and experiential learning and has held a variety of outdoor education teaching and development training roles. He is also responsible for off-site safety management and delivering visit guidance and training within Midlothian.
